Blog Entry 21: Reflection

The three entries that i consider good entries are Matrix, Meatrix and The dangers of reality tv. The reason is because there were very interesting topics where I learn new things that i didn' know, so it is pretty much more about learning about new things than a very good essays which I know they are not bad but it needs more work.
Well, writing online was totally different from my other writing experiences because i was used to write always by hand but it was really good. Yes, i believe blog entries help me improve in my level of writing because there was a lot of work. Online work was a shared activity because students can see your work and even make comments. Yes, I read some of the students online work so i can see the different opinions and writing development.

Blog Entry 17: Reflection

I think that learning a bit more about how food is processed is a good experience on this blog. What really I could say is that it makes connection with the allegory of the cave, the truman show, and the matrix is that food markets make us believe something is not true or maybe false. What's more they try to have the control in us. The reality is that they have the power to convince humans to buy their stuff with different strategies. What I think about why the makers of meatrix films used the matrix as the basis for their argumentswis because in matrix the part where neo have to pick one pill whether the red one or the blue oneand in the meatrix people want to know the truth about how the meat is processed or just leave in the world of lies without knowing the truth.
I think I have done my essays pretty good but I know that I have to keep working in the Thesis Statement and try to write  a little more. The class has been very challenging since the begining so I think that every day is different and always somthing new to learn. About the last CAT i believe I didn't do very well but it wasn't bad.

Blog Entry 20

A topic from sleep dealer ( fight) I think Memo is fighting for something that his village needs wich is water. The water is controlled by soldiers who don't allow any person to get water, if someone needs water they have to pay for it. Later, he went to the city where the cyber factories were, he started working there until he had the opportunity to convince a guy to destroy the dam, so his village could have water.

Annie Leonard: "According to those exploiting the planet's resources to make stuff, the people living in the countries with the resources do not have value because they don’t own the resources even if they’ve been living there for generations, they don’t own the means of production, and they’re not buying a lot of stuff." Who/What is responsible for this reality? Who/What benefits from it? Who/What suffers because of it? Is this reality necessary? Is it right?  The responsables of these reality are the big companies whose purposes are just to make profits using different resources and who suffers the impact is the enviroment because it is themain target when is time to do stuffs. I don't think it is necessary to damage the environment, what big companies should do is find another way of making stuffs without exploiting the planet.

The topic that i believe is related with the picture is technology and society. It shows how humans depends on technology for the different kind of jobs. As in the film sleep dealer, thechnology is the main source to produce work. If we continue like this we are are going to end up with technology controling the humans in the future. Nowadays tech is very important for everybody. In the other hand, us as a society we'll become less useful if we let technology do so. We should have a limited time when we use technology so that way we don't get used to the use of tech.

Blog Entry 16: Cat-practice

According to the passage "let them eat fat" written by Greg Critser states how fast-food and national restaurant have been more dangerous when we talk about health in the youths. These companies don't think about the problem that are creating by "targeting poor inner-city communities" and making them buy whether with sales promotions or messages promotions.
In first place, fast food sales promotions. The reason these companies give certain sales is because based on researches, it is convinious for fast food companies use poor communities as the main target; therefore, the teenagers will be affected by these kind of sales. For example, young kids are lure by these sales because companies put prices as cheap as they can, so kids would not have problems buying it.
In second place ,messages promotions. That is a good ideathat companies use to have more consumers. "If we don't recommend a supersize, the supersize is free", a sign message that many customers are attracted. Who won't like to get a supersize meal,so that is the point, they use different strategies to make the customer believe it is a good deal and the most important cheap. For instance, my cousin who likes fast food because as the word say it is fast, he prefers buy mc donalds than go to a restaurant and waits until the food is ready. Another reason that people eat fast food is because of the taste. They make a unique taste so the consumers like it and come back for more.
In conclusion, I believe that us as a communities we have to take control of this issue. This is not something that we can just let it pass because the one that are going to be affected are our children; therefore, parents should not allowed their children eat fast food because of the different health problems such as obessity or high pressure at early age. Finally, I would say that parents are the ones who have the control over their children.

Blog Entry 15: Responding to the Meatrix

The meatrix a film that show us the truth about where our meat animal product comes from and how we as a consumers are exposed to the different risks by supporting these dairy factories farms. One of the main methods that these factories use for the maximun profits are animal cruelty which is based on how animals are forced to live in certain ways that big factories farms can make more money than a regular family farms. The things that factories use to make cruelty are artificial hormones, antibiotic overuse and the mad cow disease.
In the first place, artificial hormones are use in the animals. The reason of the usage of the growth hormones are because factories need to make them grow faster so they can produce more in a shorter period of time. Contrary to family farms, animals are feed healthy with natural products. As the meatrix film show us the way of how animals are forced to give away their product using different kind of machines.
In the second place, the antibiotic overuse. The usage of antibiotics in the animals are because they are vulnerable to any disease. The factories farms put the animals in very small places where they dont have too much room to move and sometimes they cant get fresh air. The conditions are horrible in these places; therefore, the products will not be as healthy as the consumer think it will be.
Lastly, the mad cow disease. It happens because cows are separeted from their mothers when they are babies and what factories do after that is that they feed them with milk made from cow blood. It can be spread all over the cows so the meat could be contaminated. The most important thing for the factories farms are to give away their product and keep producing more.

Blog Entry 13.

In the movie "The Matrix" Neo, a computer programmer needs to make a choice, take the blue pill which he'll remain in the same world and it's not real or take the red pill which is the one that will show him the real world and the knowledge. If i were in Neo's position my choice would be the red pill because who wouldn't like to be in the real world. The reasons are that the knowledge i will never learn being in a fake world where humans would be living in a fantasy world and nothing will change by taking the blue pill, everything will remain the same by machines controlling the humans.
The red pill is the one that will take you to the real world; therefore, everyone could have knowledge. Having knowledge is an important things in our lives, without knowledge the world won't workthe way it is now. The knowledge is the power. Nowadays, people who has the power of knowledge are the one that succes in the real world. For instance, Steve Jobs a drop out college, a man who never finishes high school and now in these days is the CEO of the apple, he is a good sample of how having a knowledge we can succes in the real life.
The other reason why i will take the red pill is because living in a fantasy world or a world of lies where humans are commanded by others or machines, i don't think that it will be helpful. As an example of how is living without knowing the real world is the show called "The Truman Show" where there is this guy whose name is Truman and since he born, he was filmed 24/7 without realizing that where he was living was a fantasy world because everything was perfect, no problems, no bad people, everything was a routine but at the end he found the truth and decided to leave the fantasy world and go to the real world which is something similar as the pills, take the blue one( fantasy) or take the red one (real world).

Blog Entry 12: Reflection

I think this class has been very challenging since the beginning because using the blogs is something that i had never done before but i'm getting use to it but still having some little issues. However, the class has helped me to improve my level of writing and listening but i know that i need to work more so i can be ready for the final and move to the next level. Also i need to work a little more in my grammar. Another thing that has become more challenging and i know i'm very week is when i have to write a 400 words essay or more. Sometimes when i write an essay i lack of vocabulary, so i need to really work on that.

Blog Entry 11

According to the passage "The dangers of reality t.v" the author mention how harmful is the reality t.v in our lives. There are many reasons of why these shows are affecting us as a society, "the importance of competition, the value of image over ability and the obsolesceence of education" are the main points that the author states and i agree because reality t.v uses those messages to make us think that is the way to success in life.

Nowadays reality tv is everywhere, actors making money, producers making money while us, the viewers are watching and learning things that we belief are true or we think is the way of doing it to success in life. For instance, the importance of competition is not the only key to success, there different ways to succed in life such as finishing college, getting a good job, having a family and doing the right things; for example, my father is a person and good sample to know that not only competition is god to success. He studied, then he finished and work hard to have what he always wanted, a family and a place where he feels secure. Now, he is retired and enjoying the rest of his life without being in competitions.

Another thing that reality tv uses and it is wrong is the image over the ability. There is no way that you can success in life only because your image. However, reality shows make you belief that without a good image you will never be a successful person. The truth is that good image, bad image, good ability, bad ability you can still being a successful person if you propose to yourself what you wanted to be and reach the goal with effort.

The last thing that i could say is the most harmful message that reality tv give us as spectators is that education is not necessary to reach the american dream. That is the worst thing that they could ever show or say it because the education is an important manner that everybody needs to succed in life. For example, i have a cousin who always dream of being in those reality shows because he says once he makes moneuy there is no need to go to school or work, that's how powerful these reality tv shows are, they are making children change their minds from good thoughts to the wrong thoughts.

In conclusion i believe that reality tv shows are not only sending bad messages to us but also they are making children change their minds in different ways and what they don't know is that children are the future of the world. What they should be showing is how to become more educated or show the different ways to succed in life with real events or examples.

Blog Entry 10

Claim:   the matrix film is tyring to show us how technology will interfere in our lives if we over use it.
Reasons:    have work done by robots, using computers for investigations, the humans will be more useless.
Evidence:   nowadays, technology is so advanced that companies want to use in the future robots that could do the job of humans and they are expecting even a better work than humans. Also in these days computers do the work for us, everything is easy, all we have to do is write what we want to know about and everything appears just with one click. As a result of the use of technology, humans will be useless and the world would be depending in technology instead.

Blog 5: "Allegory of the cave"

In the passage " Allegory of the Cave" ased by the Greek philosopher Plato is an example of how the humans use to suffer by being prisioners their entire lives in caves without knowing how the real world was. They had their hands and feet with chains facing a wall and at the back of them it was fire. The only thing that the prisioners were able to see and hear was the shadows and echos of people and animals when they were crossing a little bridge that was between the prisionersw and the fire. Once a prisioner were released and able to see the real world but the light it was too much for him because he had been in the darknes his entire life. After that he went back inside to tell the other prisioners how the real world was but the prisioners never understand because what they hear were echos and what they saw were shadows, the same things that they had been seen for the rest of their lives.

1) What i get from thinking about annotations was that it will really helps a lot when is time to start the essay. It make me feel more organized.

2) What i learned from writing annotations for "is google making us stupid" was that my ideas were more organized and that helped me to concentrate in an specific point which is good when is time to write.

3) What i learned was that annotating makes me understand better what the author is trying to tell us bout google.

4) I think that it could make me a better writer because i can concentrate in the main points of the reading and develop a good essay.

Blog 4: Hype Workshop

According to the passage "hype" writen by Kalle Lasn states that in these days we live surrounded by ads which are "toxic of the mental pollutants". Nowadays advertisements are everywhere; therefore it is something that we have to learn how to lived with it. What's more, based on studies there are thousands and even billions of advertisements that floods our brains everyday, not only adults but also kids are watching these advertisements unconsciously and they are the main target of those ads. I agree with the author that advertisements are prevalent and toxic for our brains.                                                                                                                             When the author talks about tv commercial advertisements is something that we are living in these times and there is no place where to hide to avoid them. Our society is suffering the impact of the ads because kids are being targeted by these ads. For instance, my brother was watching this t.v show in cartoon network and there were many ads about this candy called sour patch that as soon as it finished he started begging for that candy.
